Captive of Magic - Racquel Kechagias ★★★Captive of Magic By Racquel Kechagias

I was given this R2R in exchange for my honest review.

This is the story of Lila Costello. Her grandma stories of magical places and fantasies as a child. She loves them and is searching for the missing journals. Her mother gets angry, whenever the stories are brought up, and her father won't talk about them. Lila feels that they have hidden them from her.

One day her mom calls her down for a talk with her father. He informs her that she will be married to a gentleman named Michael, because his family will pay nicely for her. This upsets her because she wants true love. She makes an agreement, that if she hasn't found true love in fourteen days, she will marry Michael.

Her parents set off on the journey to the store, and she begins her search for the journals again. She stumbles upon a tape of her father and grandma talking. This cause a whirlwind of emotions and she is sucked into the magical world of the Fae. Will true love prevail, or will duty hold her back?

I really liked the story. The magical world drew me in and I was right along for the journey. I was intrigued. Could true love really win. I was hoping, but this truly is a heartbreaking story, all the way around.

There were a lot of things that drove me insane about this story. This story needs a good beta read and editing.
*The setting of this is around WWII(but you don't learn anything about time frame until you are almost 20% into the book.
*Timeline - What time line? There is not one that I could find. It spans way to many dates for the two week agreement.
- The main body of the story takes place over 15 days.
- Gets told she is two be married
- Finds tape that is marked Oct 1925, which is a few days before her grandma's death.
- So I'm guessing she had to be at least 10 or so, at the time of her grandma's death(old enough that she is going to remember in detail all the things her grandma told her.)
- She gets sucked into the magic world, to fight a war
- She can see his heart through his skin.
- but a few pages later she finds his heart in a jar marked 1938(yep makes no sense)
- The wedding plans are made for the remained of the fourteen days
- He comes home for two weeks during WWII and they get married, so now we are most likely into 1940.
* How was his heart in two places at once?
* Why if they are so poor she has to be married off, do they have maids?
* Tapes, tape players, and tape recorders in 1925? Really? Highly doubt it in a private home.
* Where did all the supplies come from? Oh ya, toward the end, You finally get told. I wondered through most of the book. Had suspicions, but it would have been helpful to learn that sooner.
* Missing words
* Wrong use of words

So ya, as you can tell this book left me with many questions. I do hope there is a second book coming, because it has the potential to be developed more. I also would really like some of the loose ends tied up, because right now, I feel cheated.

Thank you to the author for introducing me to the magical word of Varuno.
